CHARLOTTE HARBOR YOUTH SAILLING
Saturday School Year Program (SYP)
Whether joining the Florida SouthWestern Collegiate High School Sailing Club or just wanting to participate in the Charlotte Harbor Youth Sailing School Year Program (SYP), youth membership is required. The yearly fee for youth membership is $30 and includes a youth membership in US Sailing. If you are interested in either joining the "Buccaneers" Sailing Club or just want to sail with us on Saturday, you may download the required form and follow the directions therein.
Charlotte Harbor Youth Sailing is partnering with Florida SouthWestern Collegiate High School to offer a fall 2022 Sailing Club Pilot. This School Year Program (SYP) consists of after school meetings where Club members will learn the skills necessary for enjoyable sailing on Charlotte Harbor. Among these skills are the language (terminology) of the sport, rigging the Club 420 boats, right of way rules, weather patterns on our harbor, effects of tide and current, reading the wind, points of sail and knot tying. Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM Club members will practice their skills on the water sailing out of Charlotte Harbor Yacht Club. Once sailing knowledge and skills are acquired, race training and practice will lead to competition with other area youth sailing clubs. The Sailing Club also offers opportunities for students who may not be interested in racing and just being on the water.
